Get2Hawaii's
New Web Software Debuts with Hawaii Travel Giants
Panda Travel and Hawaiian Airlines' "Hawaiian HotTrips"
Takes Off
HONOLULU,
August 29, 2001 - Get2Hawaii,
a Honolulu-based software start-up company today released the first
version of its software application suite designed to bring much-needed
efficiencies to the Hawaii travel distribution chain. The new Web-based
software makes its premiere as "Hawaiian HotTrips," a
collaboration between Panda Travel, one of the largest wholesalers
and retailers of Hawaii travel and Hawaiian Airlines, Hawaii's largest
carrier. The "Hawaiian HotTrips" integration of the Get2Hawaii
software suite automates building and booking Hawaii travel packages
online through two separate applications: one for travel agents
and one for individual travelers.
"We
worked closely with both Panda and Hawaiian to ensure our software
met with their extensive needs," said Susan Scott, CEO of Get2Hawaii.
"The debut of Get2Hawaii's software as 'Hawaiian HotTrips'
means that this first release will be available to a large customer
base of Hawaii travelers. Panda's extensive network of travel agents
and huge availability of attractively priced travel products, along
with the marketing clout of Panda and Hawaiian Airlines is a start-up's
dream."
Paul
Casey, vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Hawaiian Airlines
said, "With Get2Hawaii, we not only short-cut the lengthy software
development process, we saved the huge investment typical of software
development. In short order, we had a custom interface for our own
reservation agents as well as an application for our customers to
easily and quickly create attractively-priced travel packages."
Casey added, "In addition we have the critical advantage of
another distribution channel by which to sell our highly perishable
inventory."
Hawaiian
Hot Trips
"Hawaiian HotTrips" combines Hawaiian Airlines' air with
Panda Travel's extensive list of hotel and car rental contracts
to create attractively priced travel packages. The ability to build
these customized travel packages is enabled by Get2Hawaii's patent-pending
software. Get2Hawaii provides two applications through which to
book travel packages.
Travel agent application
When Panda or Hawaiian Airlines' agents or subagents click on the
"Hawaiian HotTrips" link, they are connected to the Get2Hawaii
software application that allows them to create custom travel packages
for their customers which may include air, hotel and car rental
reservations. Once they find the best fares and package matching
their client's preferences, they can instantly book the travel online
and receive email confirmations and itineraries that are forwarded
to their customers.
Individual
traveler application
Similarly, individual travelers can build and book their own Hawaii
travel packages, 24 hours a day, through both Panda's and Hawaiian
Airline's Web sites. Once they have entered their travel preferences
such as dates, times, and preferred providers, they can customize
a travel package at discounted rates, yet traveling on their own
schedule.
To
access Get2Hawaii's software, go to Panda Online (www.pandaonline.com)
or Hawaiian Airlines (www.hawaiianair.com)
and click on "Hawaiian HotTrips."
A
Level Playing Field
For Panda, adopting the Get2Hawaii technology expanded the tools
they could offer agents buying from their wholesale division. Travel
agents now can either book directly through the Panda wholesale
division or, if they have a Web site, they can embed the Get2Hawaii
software within their site allowing their customers to book travel
online.
"The growing number of travel resellers on the Web and the
lowering of commissions by the airlines has impacted our agents,"
said Jack Tsui, Chairman and founder of Panda Group. "The Get2Hawaii
solution allows us to level the playing field on their behalf and
provide them with a powerful booking engine and the means to compete
effectively, without having to buy or install expensive software."
According
to Scott, the strategy from the outset was to create an efficient
and convenient way for every player along the distribution chain
to increase revenue, reduce operating costs, optimize margins, increase
profits and automate customer service while also enhancing their
relationship with customers.
"We
set out to build software that, as we evolved it, would become an
integral tool throughout the travel industry distribution channel.
From the beginning it was obvious that combining Get2Hawaii's software
solution with the universal accessibility of the Internet was the
path," said Scott.
How
Get2Hawaii Software Works
There are four applications in the Get2Hawaii software suite, each
with a unique set of features and functions that address the specific
needs of the primary users of the software:
Individual
(FIT), group and corporate travelers can use the Get2Hawaii
software to find and instantly book the best travel fares, from
flights to hotel rooms to rental cars.
Agents,
planners, affiliates and suppliers can use the Get2Hawaii
software to easily and quickly book travel directly through wholesalers
or suppliers replacing the former, lengthy processes of numerous
phone calls, faxes, and email.
Global,
regional, specialized travel wholesalers can use Get2Hawaii
software to increase the distribution and access of their contracts
to agents, travelers and suppliers, enabling their customers to
create low-priced, customized travel packages 24 hours a day.
Airlines,
hotels, cruise lines, rental cars and activity providers
can more efficiently manage their travel inventory to better serve
wholesalers, agents, and travelers by offering them the convenience
of "one-stop shopping" for complementary travel needs:
flights, cruises, hotel rooms, rental cars and activities.
